Mount Rushmore has been added to the list of over 35 destinations accessible from the Duckwyn Kids Travel Passport.

Mount Rushmore is located in Black Hills of South Dakota. It's over 6000 feet above sea level making it the highest government memorial in the US. Doane Robinson came up with the idea to put massive carvings in the stone to bring tourism to the area. The original idea was to use American West icons but this was overruled by Gutzon Borglum, the lead designer. Borglum believed that presidents would have greater appeal and has been proven right as Mount Rushmore is one of the most visited national memorials in the country.
