Getting Started Guide

Accessing The App

The Duckwyn Travel Passport is a web app. What this means is that you don't have to download it from Apple or Google. You can access it directly from any browser by typing in app.duckwyn.com

After you login to the app you will be presented with a screen with two options:

Start Exploring: This is your travel screen. It will show you where you are and what historical locations are nearby for you to explore.

Overview: The overview page presents you with your account overview, your journal entries, and your passport of collectible stamps and stickers. If you access your Overview on a desktop or tablet device you can also add and view your adventures, update your wander list, and see your travel stats.

Important Note: When you click on "start exploring" you will be asked to share your location, motion, and orientation data. Please allow access to this information so that we can show your location on the map and provide you with information about the historical places that are nearby.

Collecting Your First Stamp

When you "start exploring" for the first time, you will see a Duckwyn icon appear near you on the map. This icon is a quick tutorial on how you can collect stamps and stickers with your Duckwyn Travel Passport.

Adding Family Members

Picture
When you access the app from your desktop or tablet device, you'll see a gear icon on the top right section of the screen. Click on this icon and select "manage family" to add up to 4 family members to your account.

Adult Account: Adult accounts can control their privacy settings on their stats and public journal pages.

Child Accounts: Privacy setting for the child's stats and public journal pages are controlled by the account owner. If a mailing address is included in the account owner settings, each child account will receive a free gift in the mail each month.

Receiving Collectible Cards

Each month, each "child" account will receive a monthly gift in the mail. To receive this gift you'll need to add your mailing address. This can be added from the "account info" screen.  Add your mailing address details and your account password to update this information.

Adventures

Picture
Adventures are an easy way to relive your travel memories. Click the "+" icon to add a new adventure with a name, start and end dates, description, and photo. Once your new adventure is added, click the pencil icon on the adventure to add information about each day of your trip.

Create a New Day
Click on the "+" icon to add a new day. Next, click on the name of the day you just created to add your memories. If the day has happened in the past, your journal entries from that day will be presented for you to add by clicking on the checkbox. You can also add your travel history for that day. Click on the "+" icon near "locations" and put in your start location. If you left your start location and went to another location then click the "+" icon again and add this new location and the type of transportation you used to get there.

Example: Flying from Boston to Los Angeles

First add your starting location as Boston, MA with transportation set as "none". Next, add a new location for Los Angeles, CA with the transportation type of "airplane". If you left the airport in Los Angeles and drove to San Diego then you could add a third location with the transportation type of "car".

After completing your Adventure, click the play button on the Adventure overview page to view your trip.

Note: You need to include at least 1 post per for that day to display in your Adventure.

Sharing
Want to share your travel journal and adventures with grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends?

From your "manage family" page, scroll down to the "manage friends and family" section. This section shows who is following your travel profile and you can set who has permission to see your public posts.

Allow Friends and Family Access
To give friends and family members access to see the posts you tagged as "friends and family", click the checkbox next to their name in the "friends and family" column.

Allow access to your kid's posts
If you would also like them to see posts that your kids have marked as "friends and family" then you can click the checkbox next to each child's name in the "allow access" column.

Send an invite to someone who doesn't have an account yet
To invite a friend or family member, click on the "+" icon. Add their email address and select each family member profile they should be able to see. An email will be sent to them with a link to setup a free account.
