Who is Duckwyn?
Duckwyn is the name of my son's stuffed animal. He's a duck who loves to travel. Now, Duckwyn is also the name of a fun new travel passport app for families. Duckwyn, the app, loves to travel too.
I'm a dad with two kids and a family that enjoys traveling. We've explored our fair share of North America and Europe with plans to go to many more destinations. When you're traveling with kids, it can be difficult to teach them an appreciation of the sites they are seeing. Often, the signs (if they exist) are written for adults in a context that only adults understand. With Duckwyn, you can help your kids learn about history in a way that is easier for them to understand.
Kids love to collect things from the places they go. If you're like my family you've probably purchased coins or stamp books that serve as a reminder of these places. And, perhaps like my family, the next time you go on a trip you probably forgot to bring your collectible book. This has happened one too many times to us which is why I thought creating a passport book, that's always accessible, would be a fun (and less expensive) idea.
Each location in our app (more coming soon) has a unique virtual stamp and coin that you can collect. Stamps are received at each location you go to, just click the stamp button when you're at each landmark. Coins are collected after completing a series of trivia questions about the landmark. If you get all the questions right, you receive a special gold coin. All the stamps and coins can be viewed and shared at any time in your passport book.
Today, Duckwyn is in beta. What this means is that you can sign up today and start using the app for free. Duckwyn is a web app so it works on Android and iOS. Simply go to app.duckwyn.com in your mobile browser to get started. The downside to being in beta is that there are bugs - please don't hate us if something goes wrong. There's also a limited number of places to visit but this is growing every week. On the plus side, the beta is free. It's our gift to you for joining early. If you join after the beta, the cost will be $9 per passport book per year.
So get moving. Sign up, explore, and let us know what you think.
Happy Travels,
Chris
